Reliability Engineering Services

Our services include mechanical integrity programs, root cause failure analysis, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), nondestructive testing, and predictive and preventive maintenance. Working internationally from our home office in Charlotte, NC, Amphion professionals help clients analyze and solve complex problems resulting from the application of stress and strain in industrial process equipment.

The results are enhanced safety, reduced downtime for equipment, and higher return on investment in critical equipment. Amphion engineers and technicians provide a niche service that clients rely on for trustworthy support and information. The engineers are Amphion are licensed in multiple states and certified by NACE International as Corrosion Specialists. Technicians are certified Level II and III in various disciplines and meet the requirements of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT).

Mechanical Integrity

A variety of federal, state, and local regulations govern the inspection and analysis of boilers, pressure vessels, aboveground storage tanks, and other process equipment. It takes special expertise to maintain safety and reduce or eliminate unscheduled downtime to keep industries operating without interruptions. AMPHION is the answer. AMPHION has significant experience in applicable codes, including those of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Petroleum Institute (API), National Board Inspection Code (NBIC), and American Welding Society (AWS). AMPHION’s experts can help you assess fitness for service,

Non-Destructive Testing

Amphion has nondestructive testing expertise in the areas of visual inspection, welding inspection, radiography, ultrasonics, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, hardness testing, field metallography, replication, and other methods. This experience allows Amphion to easily adapt to the industrial environments and needs of clients.

Root-Cause Failure Analysis

Determining the root cause failure in a piece of equipment or a component demands a multi-disciplinary approach to solving the problem rather than only addressing the symptoms. Amphion’s expertise in this area spans various disciplines including metallurgical, structural, and welding engineering, and relies upon our professionals’ adroit understanding of equipment design, maintenance history, and operating conditions.

FMEA

Drawing on decades of experience with an array of manufacturing processes and equipment, the professionals at Amphion identify potential failure modes in a process or product, and the effects that those failures could have on the operation. They are integral to assisting clients in developing methods which minimize failure.

Finite Element Analysis

Amphion offers 3D computer modeling of a piece of equipment, followed by application of loads, with the appropriate boundary conditions to produce color plots of the deformed shape of the structure and the stress. Capabilities also include fracture mechanics using empirical formulations to calculate critical crack size, crack growth rate, and expected service life of a part.
